Ascilite

Formed in 1985, Ascilite has grown into a vibrant professional community of innovators, leaders and scholars engaged with the cutting edge applications of technology to enhance teaching and learning in higher education.

Ascilite's dynamic membership list includes people responsible for institutional elearning strategies and budgets, as well as practitioners with various levels of experience in elearning research and development, instructional design, online communities, Web 2.0 tools and interactive multimedia.

Ascilite Conference 2009, Auckland

ASCILITE 2009 'Same Places, Different Spaces', is the 29th conference in the series. The conference will be held in Auckland City, Aotearoa New Zealand for only the second time in the history of the Society. A Committee from the University of Auckland and Auckland University of Technology is coordinating the event. Both these Universities enjoy a reputation for excellence in teaching and learning with technology. They also have extensive campuses in the centre of Auckland City, in close proximity to each other.

Newsletter

The Ascilite newsletter provides you with news about the society - the conference, research grants, community mentoring, campus representatives news - but it's also your opportunity to connect with other Ascilite members.

If you've got a research project to talk about, want to find others who are working in your area, need some advice on a particular subject or know of something of interest to the community then the newsletter is the place to have your say.

Community Mentoring Program

The Community Mentoring Program aims to facilitate collaboration between ascilite members through a professional mentoring relationship.

The program provides mentoring opportunities across a number of fields including technical, academic development, learning development, faculty academics, graphic designers, and programmers.

Expressions of Interest from members to participate in the 2009 ascilite Community Mentoring Program are now open. Guidelines and application forms for mentors and mentees are available on the community mentoring page of the website.

Ascilite Awards

The ascilite awards are awarded for the exemplary use of electronic technologies in teaching and learning in tertiary education.

The awards are designed to reward leaders in the use of electronic technologies in teaching and learning in tertiary education. Each year at the ascilite conference these awards recognize exemplary product design and development in this area.

The awards are open to any current financial ascilite members. If you are not currently a member of ascilite and wish to submit an entry, you can join ascilite online or contact the ascilite secretariat - info@ascilite.org.au - for further information.

Early Career Research Grant

The objectives of the ascilite Early Career Research grant scheme are to:

  1. Provide the opportunity for New Researchers to initiate research within the ascilite community.
  2. Provide stronger support for Early Researchers to begin to establish their research potential.
  3. Assist New and Early Researchers to reach national and international levels of recognition through ascilite-related publications.
  4. Provide support for small projects or pilot projects likely to form the basis for a larger grant proposal.
  5. Support team research, especially that involving several less experienced researchers from the ascilite community.
